This issue arose again with a nearly fresh maple...
So, after describing my previous issue here (http://forums.leaflabs.com/topic.php?id=882) and not having any luck getting the Maple to be communicated with on any OS (Linux/OSX/Windows) + a failed reflashing bootloader attempt, I gave up and ordered another Maple. New Maple worked right out of the box with a few test uploads of the Blink demo.
I should mention, this previous issue with the older maple arose after playing with a MusicLabs Audio Codec shield (http://www.openmusiclabs.com/projects/codec-shield/).
-- Anyways:
Well it happened again when I uploaded a demo codec-shield sketch (to flash, not SRAM): quite literally within 5 minutes of unpacking this new maple (after running those Blink demos) >:/
Same exact issue as before. The only notable thing I noticed this time, is that the demo still runs and works on the board. Specifically, the board won't open up a COM port on Windows (see previous thread), but the demo + shield will run A-OK still whenever the board is powered up.
I'm a smidge frustrated that I've pretty much spent $120 w/ S&H for these two Maples to have them "bricked"(ish) like this. I'm 99.99% sure this issue isn't due to myself mishandling the boards (the CODEC shield also runs off the board's own 3.3V supply). This has to be either a Maple issue, or a Maple + CODEC-shield issue (everything works a-ok with the Arduinos).
I would REALLY appreciate it if any Leaflabs mods/devs have any trouble-shooting ideas (see previous thread for what I attempted already). I'm sitting here left with two bricked boards that appear have the same issue. If any of the devs want, I'd be happy to ship one of the boards off for you guys to play around with.
I would file this issue under "Not Cool" and won't risk purchasing another one of these until at least a good explanation for this issue is determined.
