I am working on a maple board and attempting to use some of the functionality in i2c.h, I am having trouble getting anything to work. Does anyone have an example of setting up and sending/receiving messages across using the low level i2c functions?
Any suggestions would be great,

yep! see the pastebin. known bug is that if the transaction fails for whatever reason (no pullups perhaps?) then the i2c_master_xfer wont return, despite the fact that it is supposed to time out.
The example below shows how to use the regular "Wire" library, as well as the low level i2c.h stuff, and is a little test sketch I used to bring up a board with an xl345 and a itg3200 (accelerometer and gyro) on it.
