Just wonder: Does anyone try to compile Linux kernel 2.6 plus busybox into a very small image to put it into Maple? It can use serial port to connect to a VT100 as system concole. I am sure STM32F103 is powerful enough to run Linux.
Does anyone know this information? Any suggestion where can I find these information?

The STM32F103 is not powerful enough to run linux. At most the Maple RET6 edition has 512kB FLASH and 64kB RAM. That's just not enough.
The current version of libmaple in the github repository has FreeRTOS support built in. There is also a guide in the wiki for running ChibiOS on the Maple.
If you want to run Linux, you may want to look at something like the Beagleboard or another Cortex-A8/A9 board.

I got one of these AVR32 boards a couple of years ago:

and it runs Linux fine. 32MByte Flash 32MByte RAM
That processor is comparable in power to a Cortex-M3, but has a memory management unit.
Anyway it is clearly feasible that you could build a Linux image for something with this level of resources.

There happens to be an Application Note from STM about using uCLinux on high-density STM32F103 parts. They use the STM32-EVAL board, which is based on the same MCU as the Maple Native, but the STM32F103RET6 used in the Maple RET6 edition is also considered a high-density part. Aught to work.

The STM32F development board they use to run uCLinux has quite a lot of memory external to the STM32F103.
The document lists:
64 or 128 Mbit serial Flash memory (8MB or 16MB),
512 Kbit × 16 SRAM (1MB),
512 Mbit or 1 Gbit NAND Flash (64MB or 128MB) and
128 Mbit NOR Flash memory (16MB)
as well as the MCU's "64 Kbyte of internal SRAM and 512 Kbyte of Flash memory,"
It looked like it used the external memory, but it wasn't very clear to me.
