Using the rev5 maple.
I was playing around with a program I wrote to count optical encoder pulses using interrupts and then display the counts with SerialUSB.print. Suddenly my IDE can't detect the DFU device. So I go to reset the maple, and then notice the transistor closest to the reset button is hot enough to burn my finger :(
The MCU chip itself starts to get super hot as well. If I reset the board, the led blinks like normal (like the bootloader is doing something), but it's just this no USB and overheating issue. Not allowing it stay plugged in long enough to die completely.
I made sure to, of course only use 5V tolerant pins with a 5VDC from a benchtop supply. Plus the encoder pulses are through 4.7k resistors, so I don't exactly see how this thing could have been fried by my setup.
I don't see any shorts on the board. One of the polarized caps was dinged when I first got my maple, but I don't think it's bad enough to cause this. Other than that the board looks fine.
Could this be a random defect? Any similar experiences?
