http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/25036A.pdf will this chip work with maple it looks like the lowest speed is 33mhz?

ModeratorI looked at the datasheet. There are no minimum speeds I could see, but in Table 15 a maximum speed for some modes is 33MHz, so I guess this is where the "lowest speed is 33mhz" came from. That table is telling you the highest clock speed the device can support. not the lowest clock speed it requires.
There are some rise/fall time constraints, they look okay as long as you use the normal rise time for pins (i.e. do not program a slower rise time).(full discolsure: I am not a member of LeafLabs staff)
