IDE won't find device (Couldn't find the DFU device: [1EAF:0003])

I am running windows 7 x64 as an administrator. I just received the Maple today; the original code is still on it and works fine. I have reinstalled the drivers and IDE many times to no avail. The serial reset works fine, but whenever I attempt to upload, I am given the error:

Couldn't find the DFU device: [1EAF:0003]

Locking in DFU mode does not help. The serial driver in device manager shows no errors, but the DFU driver (under LibUSB-win32 Devices) gives a code 52 error for unsigned/corrupted drivers. When I installed the drivers, I told it to accept the unsigned drivers.

windows 7 users have had success when they disable driver signing:

have you tried this?

enabling simple windows 7 upload is on our top list of priorities. we're sorry about the problems users have been having on this OS, and are trying to resolve the issue as quickly as we can.

Yes, I have been disabling driver signing every time I boot. This has worked decently. I know it's possible to allow unsigned drivers in other ways, but this works.

Perhaps you could make it more clear that windows vista and 7 are not officially supported on the product page.

I followed instructions on this link and got driver signed on win7.

p.s. This is for DFU driver not for serial port

Why not just sign the driver?

I know signing requires the purchase of a signing certificate by LeafLabs, but is it that expensive?

Hi JonnyBoats,

This is definitely on the roadmap once Leaf gets enough funds. Signing a driver requires us to obtain a USB vendor and product id block and an agreement with Microsoft. This is likely to cost a couple thousand dollars, funds that we do not currently have. Once we have the requisite funds we will definitely do this to support our windows users.
