Hey,

I am very experienced with microcontrollers, but this is my first time working with Maple Microcontrollers. From what it seems they are roughly similar to the Arduino platform, but I are having major issues with the Maple rev5 being recognized on my MacBook Pro. I am working on a team and everyone is having issues with the maple being recognized on their computers( i.e. when we plug in the USB, our computers act as if they were never connected). We have tried multiple operating systems; Mac OSx (leopard), Linux, and Windows 7. What's really interesting is one of the individuals on our team has two Maple Mini models and we are having no issues with any of them. When the USB is initially plugged into the computer the blue power LED begins it's normal pulse, indicating there is power, but directly following the initial pulses the LED goes completely off. When we go under our device management the device does not appear, but it happens instantly when we plug in the Maple Mini. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
What code are you running on the devices in question? Often times a user sketch can cause the USB to flake out (for example, if you crashed the MCU, or disabled interrupts, or are stuck in a higher priority interrupt than USB forever). When this happens, the auto-reset feature (which reboots into programming mode) is disabled (since it is triggered over USB).

To put your device into a guaranteed programmable state, use perpetual bootloader mode: http://leaflabs.com/docs/troubleshooting.html#troubleshooting-perpetual-bootloader

Note that perpetual bootloader mode will not cause a Serial Port to appear in your device menu, but instead a DFU USB device should attach to the host computer.

Just read this after looking at your previous post about cuddleback (or whatever the username was). Just to be clear, did you remove the spam from the sig, or was it done after the fact by the user?

mbolivar - I removed the spam from the sig to ensure spammers get as little benefit as practical, but left the message on the small likelihood that the post is real.

Just to mention:
My MacBook Pro (running Snow Leopard 10.6.5) doesn't find the Maple r5 when Parallels is running (with Windows XP). Even if I choose to route the USB device to Mac something just blocks it off.
When parallels isn't running it works flawless.
Maybe someone gets the same behavior ;)
