no, it isn't. i usually delete any of the bot user accounts when i clear out the spam posts; hopefully (in concert with CAPTCHA) this will suffice. please let us know if that doesn't seem true (especially if you're a moderator that feels like there's still too much work to do keeping the spam down!).
Sorry about the Spam!

Give it a week, and see how many spam threads are deleted.

Well, so far I've seen a noticeable decline. I had to delete quite a few at first, but the addition/resistor human tests along with a CAPTCHA seems to be working now.

I felt like I was seeing more than a dozen every day. Today I've seen none.

i haven't been deleting any, either. would any other moderators care to comment?

poslathian,
I have really bad color vision so I find adafruit's human test almost impossible to pass without hacking. I have to use a program to find the resistor's numerical color values, compare them to the chart, etc. I never comment at adafruit for this reason.
Would you be willing to use something else, or modify adafruit's test with symbols (numerical values or something) so I can tell the colors with out using the actual color on the screen?

Hi Adam,
Don't worry! Even if we incorporate something like the resistor CAPTCHA over at adafruit, it'd just be to register, not to post. The idea is that since we delete users that are spambots, all we have to do is raise the registration barrier high enough to defeat the spammers, not require that people go through onerous CAPTCHAs just to post in the forum.

Haven't deleted a post/thread any time recently.

great! seems like the simple addition CAPTCHA is sufficient for now, but we'll be keeping an eye on things.

Agreed, but you'd get outstanding questions, and amazing responses to posts from anyone who passes the CAPTCHA :-)
A defect with my proposal (only one ?-) is you might quickly run out of CAPTCHA's; the library would get so good so quick there would be no bugs :-)
I haven't seen spam for days either.
