Anyone using STM32VLDISCOVERY as Maple hardware debugger?

Has anyone tried to use the STM32VLDISCOVERY/STM32 Value line Discovery as a low-cost hardware debugger for a Maple?

It is under $10!

ST say:

On-board ST-Link with
- USB interface for programming and debugging
- selection mode switch to use the kit as a standalone
ST-Link (with SWD connector)

and

Non-intrusive debug with the in-circuit debugger present on STM32 Value line Discovery. The kit can be used as an ST-link for your own board.

This might be a very low-cost alternative to a 'proper' JTAG.

I just ordered a couple to play around with. Seems like it should definitely work for SWD.

I'm ordering several for friends and myself. They are worth that price for SWD alone.
A concern is I don't use Windows, so I'm not sure what I should use on a Mac to drive SWD.

I'm planning to get one when I can afford to, a debugger would help me a lot! Let me know how it goes.
