Is a 8mhz cristal used in maple I found one that is small with 7pf caps.
The cristal seems to need low esr caps.
Are their any other requirements for the maples xtal?

The exact crystal used, and thus the necessary esr caps change periodically due to sourcing issues. All that is needed is in an 8MHz crystal with the supporting circuitry as specified by that components datasheet
