I tried to run vmware with ubuntu 32bit (10.10) .
maple-ide produced the following error. (Do I have wrong java version here ?)

I believe the new Python IDE is MapleIDE v0.0.9, however I can't confirm but the staff should be able to. However if this is the case, it's looking like Dec 15th
These are scheduled go live on December 15th along with libmaple and Maple IDE 0.0.9, but your thoughts are welcome anytime.
The IDE should work with both V3 and V5 as I don't believe there was a major change in firmware. But again, staff will have to confirm this.

I am not a LeafLabs staffer.
Rev5 should work with the existing IDE.
AFAIK, all the changes on rev5 are hardware layout, silk screens etc.,and invisible to the IDE.
This OS refused to install unsigned device driver.
I believe other folks have had success at making Windows 7 do what they say, and install.
I do remember there being a problem with the Arduino IDE (which is the base of Maple's IDE) on my Mac, when it flipped to a default 64-bit app model. There is an option to run it as a 32-bit application, and everything worked.
Maybe download a version 18 Arduino IDE from http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
Install and run.
If there is no problem, that tells us something.
If there are problems, the messages may be found when you google, but that might tell us something too.

Maple on 64bit vista laptop is little bit difficult to set up.
I ended up with ubuntu linux environment. Current Ubuntu version does not have
sun jdk which cause a trouble for the use with maple-ide. After installing sun jdk1.6,
maple-ide works o.k
I think firmware is not different for rev3 and rev5 even though maple-ide 0.08 still shows
MAPLE rev3 as board.

Just to clear things up:
IDE 0.0.8 works fine with Rev 5 Maples; The Maple Rev 5 bootloader is
identical in functionality to the Rev 3 bootloader.
Some users have had success running IDE 0.0.8 on Windows 7 by
disabling driver signing; you may find this thread helpful:

We are on schedule for the IDE 0.0.9 release on December 15th, but it
will continue to be based on the Arduino IDE fork. We've always meant
to release the Python rewrite as IDE 0.1.0. It isn't mature enough
yet, so we decided to release the improvements we've made as 0.0.9, to
get them into your hands as soon as possible.
IDE 0.0.9 will include support for some additional Arduino core
language functionality, ports for the Servo library and the AsyncLabs
WiShield, bugfixes, and some other miscellaneous improvements.
