Hello-
I want to begin by saying that I have learned a lot by reading numerous posts to the leaflabs forums, both related to subjects I am interested in (eg. USB communications, interrupts, DMA, ADC, bio-sensors, code optimizations, etc) and topics which I might one day need to understand (I2C, JTAG, etc). Many thanks to those who have started interesting topics and especially those who have responded to my (sometimes uninformed) questions and "bug" reports.
I think reading the topic titles would be easier for everyone if users would spend a few more seconds when starting a new topic. Often I find myself reading a topic title two or three times before I can figure out what the user is saying.
When a new topic is created the first line of the post becomes the topic if a separate title is not specified.
When using a regular keyboard I just hit the tab key to jump from the "Title" field (after I finish creating a title) to the primary text field to create the post.
I do not know if leaflabs users (who do not create separate titles) are posting to the forums using a smart phone. I do not know if there is a tab key equivalent on smart phones browsers. Do smart phone browsers have automatic spell check? I do not know how easy it is to scroll up/down using a smart phone and to edit posts.
I do not use a smart phone, although there are many days when I wish I could read a digital version of a PDF instead of wasting the paper to print a copy. Yes, I feel like a dinosaur, but during most days I spend to much time using computers.
An example of a good topic title (from user Skids) which is short, but to the point is:
"I would like to read a pin at high speed..."
This is from post:
http://forums.leaflabs.com/topic.php?id=517
It is clear to me what Skids is asking. Before I click on the link I am hopeful that I will learn something if I read the original question and the responses.
Another good topic title (this time from user josheeg) is:
what is an "autoregressive coefficient"
Simple, but clear.
[[flame suit on]]
Now, I am not trying to get into an argument, but just trying to make constructive suggestions.
I believe user josheeg seems to know more about using microcontrollers than I will ever know. I encourage josheeg to continue making posts, asking questions, and making helpful contributions.
However, in a recent new topic the title is:
"any news on the minis schematic I am designing something for it"
Maybe I am just being picky, but the words "I am designing something for it" do not add much to the title.
The words appear in the forum title, because a separate title was not created and the words appear on the first line of the post.
Another good title is:
[[flame suit off]]
Once again, I did not mean to offend. I am sorry if I offended anyone.
Thanks!
Stephen from NYC
