Oh goody! I'll be refreshing the blog every 5 seconds for the next 23 hours.

I made a Twitter account so as to follow you and know when the betas came out.
I felt unclean, finally caving and making a Twitter account. But it'll be worth it. :D

10:45 AM EST. Looking forward!
After the 100 sell out, how long before the next batch is available for purchase? Hopefully as a revision with some of the community feedback.

2 on the way. :D

Giddy like a little school girl... or as if I just received an N64.
You'll be getting a lot of feedback from me, don't you worry about that! Hopefully the Native will arrive before Maker Faire NY 2011 next weekend. I'd so wear the Native as a pimp necklace, because honestly... if Flava Flav can get away with wearing a clock, the Maple Native will be "dope."

When I click on the Maple Native picture in the store:
http://leaflabs.com/store/it links to:
http://leaflabs.com/devices/#Maple-Nativewhich says:
"Memory: 512KB Flash and 64KB SRAM"
which is correct for the processor.
Maybe add "1MB external SRAM"?Posted 4 years ago # -
I just ordered my beta Maple Native. In the picture on the store page, it's not clear to me whether there's a JTAG connector installed, and I see a spot which look suspiciously like a footprint for an uninstalled surface-mount 50-mil JTAG header. Will the board arrive with any JTAG connector(s) installed, or will I need to install a connector and/or build an adapter to connect a JTAG debugger? I have an Olimex JTAG adapter that I haven't quite gotten around to firing up yet, and I found an inexpensive adapter at Digi-Key (726-1193-ND) which looks like it will adapt the Olimex's 20-pin 100 mil connector to a 50 mil 10-pin Cortex-M debug header.

gbulmer,
You are correct. In the summary of the STM32F103ZE specifications it mentions only the FLASH (512KB) and SRAM (64KB) microprocessor memory.
http://leaflabs.com/devices/#Maple-Native
However, upon closer reading the initial text also says the Maple Native "features 1 MB of onboard RAM".
I also missed that sentence when I first read the page (I rushed to the chip specs), and I had the same question.
Yes, I think it would be better for the LeafLabs business if the presence of the 1 Meg chip was described more prominently.

Sheesh, now you guys want documentation, too? demanding... ;)
No but seriously, updates to the devices page + docs are waiting in the wings, promise. Today ended up being a little more hectic than anticipated, but we're working on it. Thanks for looking out for us + being patient.
robodude: I'm not really sure how much time there will be between the dissemination of the betas and the official Rev1 boards, to be honest. We will spend some time collecting feedback, then there will be some time to implement any changes, another run of protos, etc. I'm guessing a couple of months at the least. Also, if you rock a Native as a pimp necklace, you will improve the quality of my Maker Faire experience immeasurably.
NF6X: yeah, that footprint is for the JTAG connector. It should fit with the 10-pin Cortex Debug Connector. Unfortunately it's not populated... it was actually supposed to be but there was kind of a mix-up. Sorry about that! This is the part you want if you intend to install it yourself: http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/1522650-conn-header-10-pos-dual-05-smd-ftsh-105-01-l-dv-k.html
edit: meant to mention that I just dropped off the first batch of native protos at the post office, so if you've ordered one, it's on its way!

Yes, I saw that, but:
a. that isn't the first thing I read, IMHO the thing read is the highlighted bullet points,
b. that only makes it worse, as there are incompatible numbers, 1MB or 512KB+64KB?
c, it also says "FSMC: 45-pins, connected to an optional external RAM chip", is the 1MB *optional*?Trust me, it is helpeful to be accurate and unambigous.

Thanks, jessb. That connector isn't in stock at Digi-Key at this time. Do you think that this one would work, after pulling out one pin for keying?

Squee =].
Got my Maple Native earlier today. Solid build quality, as you'd expect. No candy this time, unfortunately. I was also hoping for a cool "#xx out of 100" badge or certificate, hehe, but oh well :P.
I haven't had time to play around with it yet, but I'll be messing around with the 1MB SRAM and FSMC after Maker Faire this weekend.
@ gbulmer - The Maple Native comes with a stick of ISSI IS62WV51216BLL 512kx16 SRAM. The full FSMC port is brought out to a 3-row header near the back with the option of adding more external memory to the remaining (unused) banks. Alternatively, you can just use it as GPIO, which is why even MORE external memory is optional. If you look at the official STM32 board for this MCU, they have 4 or 5 memory modules connected to the FSMC controller.
