   I followed the bouncing prompt to testing the ethernet module that was blogged about here http://leaflabs.com/2011/10/wizzin-through-the-ether-net/ and it seems to work fine.

   At most twice.

   Then it stops serving until I reboot the device. Anyone else having issues with the web example?

   Do you know how far the compatibility goes with the W5100?

   I have an Ethernet shield lying around and I'm getting some energy to start getting it to work. Maybe that could be some help for this?

   @feurig, having the same issue here with a Maple Mini r3 and the Webserver test app for the WIz820io, it's serving only one request and then has to be rebooted to serve the next.

   @maple-devs, is there a repository for Maples wizEthernet lib somewhere or is there a more recent release than the one mentionen on the wiki?
   I've found bugs and "missing code" (e.g. "sock.sendto" does not send any data, only empty packets...).

   found this ethernet lib for W5100 AND W5200 in Japan ( Arrigato ! ), here is the link:

   tested it with maple r5 and arduino ethernet shield, server, ntp ,dhcp worked pretty good.

   If you use SerialUSB for output, even when running as server app, make sure that maple is connected
   via usb and zterm or so because otherwise it won't work. You can skip SerialUSB as well.

   For WIZ820 use #define W5200 as described in util/w5100_config.h (?) .

   My WIZ820 arrived just today so i will test it soon.

   I just got WIZ820io (W5200) from Saelig

   hooked it up to Maple (RET6) and used the wizEthernet lib to run the telnetserver.
   That seemed to work. But as noted above, the wizEthernet lib appears to have broken sections of code. I will next try the maple adaptation of the Arduino Ethernet lib as provided here

   It indicates support for W5200.

   i tried compiling examples in ethernetmaple lib mentioned above, but I get compile errors complaining about no SPI.h -- I commented out references to SPI.h, but is there another solution?

   Hi manitou

   I make mistake #include <SPI.h> directive.
   I've compiled the library on Windows OS only.
   On linux, may occur some other complile errors.

   You can delete all #include <SPI.h> directive.

    Yes, dinau's lib is the way to go, cleaner code, more complete, a lot of examples from the Arduino project and it's faster too (at least for sending Open Sound Control messages via raw UDP, that's what I've tried)

    Thanks dinau. I got the Maple RET6 working with the WIZ820io and your library (building on Linux). I used SPI2, Serial3, and wired reset from Wiz to reset on Maple. Static IP address and DHCP both worked as did simple TCP and UDP tests. Simple 8-byte UDP request-reply on local net took 1190 us. Same test between 2 linux boxes takes about 730 us. Streaming 1000-byte UDP packets to a local Linux box (100 mbs Ether) took about 4.6 ms per packet -- around 214KBs. The SPI (I think) is configured at 4.5MHz, or roughly 560KBs

    I improved Ethernet performance modestly by taking the SPI up to 9MHz. However, I couldn't get the WIZ820io to work with the SPI at 18MHz. Behavior with SPI2 at 18MHz was erratic.

    Anyone tried wiznet with SPI at 18MHz??

    Test             4.5MHz       9MHz
    8byte UDP echo   1190us      992us
    1000byte send     1.7mbs      2.1mbs
    1000byte recv     1.3mbs      1.7mbs  (speed at which 10 1k pkts arrive with NO loss)

    The maple times are slower than Arduino Uno with SPI at 4 and 8 MHz

    Manitou, What did you have to use serial3 for? I just see connections needed for SPI, reset, and pwr/gnd? Or was that for comms back to the PC?

    @manitou I'm running at 18MHz with SPI2 on Maple Mini r3.

    I send out packages of 96-736 bytes in size at 1-2kHz rate via UDP.
    No lost packages so far and no corruption of the data inside the packages either.

    tcpdump output looks very nice

    100000 packets captured
    100000 packets received by filter
    0 packets dropped by kernel
