EVE is a way to build wireless infrastructure at low-cost to talk to physical devices.
This is a Kickstarter project to crowd-source funds for a Raspberry-Pi-based home-automation server:

It will provide several different interfaces to home-automation wireless technology, and claims to have some pieces running already. This may also inspire someone to port a home automation wireless daughterbard to Maple (if it exists, sorry, I missed it)
