Where does your Maple r5 come from? Maybe the bootloader is broken. It should blink fast for a second after resetting, then slow. You may have to reprogram the (USB) bootloader using the serial bootloader.

Hi gbulmer,

I was trying to use perpetual bootloader mode, however unsuccessful. Spend few hours yesterday,
couldn't solve it. Don't know how to press this buttons, as sequence described on the forum not working for me. And even LED's are flashing different, first few times slowly and then fast till I unplug device and plug in again.

@bigplik
Have you tried to put the board into "Perpetual Bootloader Mode":
http://static.leaflabs.com/pub/leaflabs/maple-docs/latest/troubleshooting.html#perpetual-bootloader-mode

It is a bit tricky, it usually takes several attempts to get it to work, and the timing of the two buttons seems to be a awkward.

(Full disclosure: I am not a member of LeafLabs staff.)

Hi,
I've seen one movie on YT where was eg. how to upload sketch into STM32 board by ArduinoIDE and MapleIDE, made same as on the movie, step by step and it wasn't work, ArduinoIDE can't program it in my case.

I tryied to program it was MapleIDE, that is hard part, I have linux mint, in arduino also had spent some time to setup programs but it looks a lot easier than Maple to first start, there was an instruction how to program it but still, can't upload a sketch, program is starting uploading, and stock (MapleIDE),

and device, LeafLabs Maple r5 is always flashing LED like an crazzy, even when I push the Reset or But button,
it flash slowly only on the begining for few times, and then fast, no matter what I do,

when I start to upload program by MapleIDE I get this info

"Going to build using 'armcompiler' (ARM)
Compiling core...
No libraries to compile.
Compiling the sketch...
Linking...
Computing sketch size...

/tmp/build8281330379353600180.tmp/Blink.cpp.bin :
section size addr
.data 12848 0
Total 12848

Binary sketch size is reported above. Check it against a 108000 byte maximum.
Loading via dfu-util
Resetting to bootloader via DTR pulse"

and then program stock, everytime, upload haven't been done even once,
don't know what is wrong as I don't get any information from IDE since that time.

anyone knows how to deal with this stuff?

Why can't you use the Maple IDE?

It all depends on what interface and software you use. If you are using J-Link (or anything else) with openocd, the openocd command would be:
flash write_image erase my.cpp.bin 0x5000 bin

You can also use dfu-util independent of the Maple IDE:
dfu-util -a 1 -D my.cpp.bin

You can use stm32flash or stm32loader.py to reprogram the USB bootloader
over a serial line, as explained in the docs.

When I build a project, I can download the fireware to board by Maple IDE. But consider of safety, I need download the bin file by other tool(like J-link or other tool), but I failed.
Can anyone know how to download the bin file to the board?

I forced it into the bootloader mode, slow blue blinking LED, won't recognize the DFU drivers as valid. It installs the Serial drivers just fine though in this mode. I tried to install the serial drivers while the led was blinking fast, it failed, attempted to install DFU drivers while in this mode and had a different error while installing the drivers.

And yes this is Windows 7 64-Bit.

EDIT: Fixed it, the stupid blink patterns were backwards, it was blinking fast when in bootloader mode, and slow in serial mode. Had to use libusb utility to install the dfu driver.

I'm assuming you're running on a Windows platform? (Win 7? Win 8?)

Have you check if you have the proper driver installed? When switch between USB boot loader mode and serial mode, do you see the driver "libusb-win32 devices" during USB boot loader mode in your Device Manager? If not, you need to install the dfu driver.
