Once the Maple is in perpetual bootloader mode, I have not seen it come out of that mode (i.e. slow flashing LED forever) *UNLESS* a program is uploaded to it.

Upload the blink program, and check that upload works.
If upload works, the program that you are uploading is broken in some way.

Are you uploading EXACTLY the SeriaCallResponse program, or have you changed it in some way?

When you copied the Processing program (at the end of SeriaCallResponse in comments) to a new file, and compile it, did you get any errors?

Did you remove the comment markers at the front:

/*
Processing sketch to run with this example:

and at the end:

*/

The SeriaCallResponse waits until the host Processing program tries to talk to it, so you won't get anything until it the Maple side detects the host Processing side.

You could modify the
establishContact()
function to flash an LED so that you can see that the Maple is waiting.

Yes, I see the LED flash fast, hold the BUT down till the LED flashes slowly and stays flashing slowly.

The LED stays flashing slowly while I re-compile SeriaCallResponse program.

The IDE says it download the hex and resets the USB to normal operation.

And nothing.

LED stops flashing and No serial port activity.

What now ??

Have you tried "Perpetual bootloader mode" described here:

I modified the SerialCallResponse program to use serial port one and two.

Both serial ports for do not respond/output any chars.

I am using XP3 and the USB serial port did not start up as described in the install guide.

The LibUSB-Win32 Devices does show up in the Device Manager,
and the IDE states that it download code to the board.

How can I reload the default code on to this board ?
