I make Maple board with 1GB flash RGT6 and implement flash as USB Mass storage. So i can download codes (as FIRMWARE.bin file) and files (for access from code) to internal flash with a simple files copy. With MP3 library works as audio player :)

Remark:
I see new Atmel AVRStudio 5.0 (beta) - as for me it's perfect way for developer (for windows users). They use Microsoft Visual Studio with custom plugins for edit/download/debug. I never better soft for development than Visual Studio (not say about Eclipse and other based on it).

As x893 said, the upcoming 0.0.10 release will include support for the RET6. We will also be selling Maples with RET6s instead of RBT6s (the boards are already in our hands, we just need to finish the software support for them before we put them up for sale).

Use maple-RET6 (512K) from maple-ide. Also you can try 768K/1G MCU (RF or RG series)

I have a project that requires more than the 128KB on the RBT6 CPU. It looks like I could change it out for a RET6 and get 512KB. Anyone done this? Are there any limits on the code generation that would limit my code size?
