I was having the same issue for a while. I did find a solution that worked for me.

http://forums.leaflabs.com/topic.php?id=1125#post-6918

If you follow the instructions in this post, I think you can get past this issue. Frustrating, but at this time I think worth it.

I just received my maple and I am having the same problem. I've looked at other forums which tell you to put the thing into perpetual boot-loader state. The instructions just flat out don't work. Press the reset, then quickly press the but, bot no difference. If I press and hold the but button, then press the reset, the blinking light stops, but still can not load anything.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the device drivers multiple times, tried about every combination of ways but always get the same:

Loading via dfu-util
Resetting to bootloader via DTR pulse
Searching for DFU device [1EAF:0003]...
dfu-util - (C) 2007-2008 by OpenMoko Inc.
This program is Free Software and has ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY

Couldn't find the DFU device: [1EAF:0003]

The board is working - If I simply open the serial port monitor and type anything, I get the following:

***********************************results below*******************

Testing all PWM headers with a servo sweep. Press enter.

(reset serial port)
> d
Pulling down D4, D22
Pulling up D4, D22
> s
Testing all PWM headers with a servo sweep. Press enter.

(reset serial port)
> d
Pulling down D4, D22

++++++++++++++++++end of results+++++++++++++++++++++

Would love to be able to use this.

Using Windows 7 (32 bit)
thx

First, make sure that the COM port you selected is right. It's simple - just unplug Maple from USB port and look at the port list - Maple's port must disappear. Actually, COM port has nothing common with DFU mode, it used just to reboot the Maple. So, if you even select wrong port, or the system does not see Maple's port at all (I have such trouble sometimes) - you have to wait for the "Searching for DFU device [1EAF:0003]..." message and press the reset button on the Maple.

hi guys,

my groupmates recently purchased the RET6 edition and i was trying to upload the sample program->blink.
i tried these settings:
TOOLS->BOARD->RET6 TO FLASH
SERIAL PORT->COM4

and the error "Couldn't find the DFU device: [1EAF:0003] " appears.
whenever i do the perpetual bootmode it seems that the device becomes irrecognizable, im using w7 64-bit. please help...
