The funny thing is, with Windows 7, I can tell Device Manager when uninstalling devices to also delete old drivers.

Hello,

1)
I have not tried this, but do the registry "cleaning" utilities remove copies of the uninstalled drivers? I assumed the registry "cleaning" utilities deleted entries in the registry for apps which have been uninstalled.

2)
I know this is a forum for the Maple board, but I was wondering if there is a best way to uninstall/update drivers with the Arduino Duemilanove. I just downloaded the Arduino 0020 IDE and the dates of the drivers (included with 0020) seem to imply the FDTI drivers are "newer" than the ones I have (from 0017).

Thanks!

Stephen from NYC

there was not a driver change. Thus, your old drivers should still be in tow and working fine. Deleting drivers in windows is HARD. Even if you uninstall them, windows keeps copies in its system folders and keeps entries in its registry. When you plug in the device again, windows often tries to outsmart you and load up the old drivers - even if they were uninstalled.

This was a BIG headache in developing the windows end drivers back when we had the simultaneous dfu+serial compound USB scheme in rev1.

Windows copies drivers into it's repository.

I didn't think there was a driver change.

Is the Windows drivers setup automatic when extracting the files for IDE 0.0.7 ?

I even removed the previous IDE 0.0.6 and the system still does not
request for any new drivers? It seems to work?

Before, from IDE verison 0.0.5 to 0.0.6 I had to re-point the system to the new
drivers in the new IDE version?

Edit: Please note: New users will have to go through the normal driver installation!
