mbolivar -Thanks for that.
I was thinking of something simpler, i.e. look in Downloads for filenames containing 'Safari', but that didn't work.

Sounds good; please do keep us posted.

FYI, you can at least check when software updates were downloaded by opening /Applications/Utilities/Console, clicking the "Show Log List" if it's not already clicked, then select "All Messages" under DATABASE SEARCHES in the left hand menu, and filtering for "software".

Okay, that's a little long; here's a screenshot:

It only fails sometimes with Safari. Maybe 1 in 5+ log ins?

I am running Safari 5.0.2, but I can't remember when I did the update.
I posted this three days ago, and I'd thought 5.0.2 was older than that (where do I check that? I was looking at that stuff only a couple of weeks ago)

I'll post again, if it happens again. Also, I will post if I discover that I had installed 5.0.2 before the most recent incident. Okay?

Safari update 5.0.2 apparently "Fixes an issue that could prevent users from submitting web forms", according to the update documentation (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222 ).

Have you applied this update? It's pretty recent.

I've had occasional problems logging in.
I enter my username and password, at the top of the page, and nothng happens. The two fields reapppear, and I am not logged in.

AFAIK, it is only manifest with Safari (Mac OS X 10.5, I haven't checked my 10.6 machine).
AFAIK, FIrefox always works.
