hmm, usbserial is a part of windows, so I would expect it to work. Are you getting any COM port at all attaching when your Maple is running in user mode (one of your sketches). Are you getting an unknown device notice?

If you are getting the COM port, try using a different serial monitor, like putty or hyperterminal. It is possible that the problem is that the IDE's librxtx java library is 32bit only, but I am not sure.

I have a Win7 x64 PC also, but everything works fine for me. It was a while ago that I installed the drivers, so I'm afraid I wont be much help setting it up.

I will add as a second note that VirtualBox is a very nice VM machine. I have not used Windows Virtual XP to compare. Windows XP will work fine in it, but getting hardware ports to come through can be a little work.

Using Win7 64 bit and I know that compatibility is an issue. With the help of posts and digital dexterity I get programs to load, but ...

Under Win7 64 bit is there a way to also get usbserial to work, or is it requires to work on a virtual machine on the system?

If a virtual machine is neede which is the best way to go VirtualBox or Windows virtual XP and if VirtualBox is required what OS would you recommend loading?

Sorry for the questions but without being able to use printf's as debug I am kind of lost in this IDE.

Thanks
