I did not know that you are on the air since May 2010.That's really a short time with this new project. So forgive me if i was too frustrated. I can imagine how much work must be done to get everything running perfect in this short time. I will surely continue with my projects and if there is something in my work which is suitasble for the community i will inforn you.

Sorry to hear that youre having a hard time. Have you upgraded to ide 0.0.5? that fixes a lot of uploading hassles, and it seems to work with much grater stability. Were actively working on a 0.1.0 release that is our official first stable release. Arduino has been around since 2005, Maple since May, so theres a lot of catching up to do in terms of libraries and stability, but the LeafLabs team and many users are definitely working on it. Currently in the works are things like:
ethernet lib port (arduino ethernet shield)
sdfatlib port (arduino sd card shield)
VGA video demo (this is coming along very nicely, thanks bryan!)
stable i2c/spi API (nearly there)
timers API (nearly there)
and generally making projects with the board, which has the side effect of building libs and making the platform more robust.

The LeafLabs team has been, until recently, pretty consumed with making the base system work, and so demo projects and libraries have taken a backseat. Now that everything is released, we our making it a priority to build some great projects with maple which will not only serve as templates and guides for our users, but allow us to tighten and polish and expand everything as we work with it. I hope you can continue to bear with us as we grow the project, and we look forward to more projects coming in from users.

Hi Guys,

i am a owner of a Maple R3 since the end of May and am struggling with the software and the hardware from the beginningand must say that i am really frustrated. I have not read or seen any serious software or application with this board. To be honest is it just a hacker board or is it possible to do anything with it like with an Arduino ? I started translating some libs from Arduino to Maple and left this part because it is absolute a useless waste of time transfering the libs unless the whole uploading procedure to the Maple is blocking your work. My board is working randomly, sometimes yes mostly no.
So what i would like to know is, are there future plans to have a stablized working system with some software on which you can rely on and is there any work going on to adapt some Arduino shields?

starbug,

I haven't touched in about a week, I can help you get it going maybe tonight or tomorrow. I don't use the IDE, so I haven't quite figured out how to get the code in there. If you're comfortable with using the command line, you can check out the branch straight from github and do everything from there.

"We've used an ethernet shield (with rises ;) ) that communicated over uart, and got a simple maple webserver going."

Did you find any demo? Would be really good.

Perry's source is not compiling in IDE 0.0.5.

Hi Perry,
thanks for the source. Seems to look good but i am having problems compiling it. I am getting the following error in the IDE:

Going to build using 'make' (ARM)
Compiling core...
Compiling any libs...
Compiling the sketch...

fatal error: ethernet.h: No such file or directorycompilation terminated.

So where can i find the ethernet.h file?

hey guys,

i posted a dev branch to github at http://github.com/leaflabs/libmaple/tree/ethernet-shield

You can poke around with it and see if it doesn' anything for you. The version up there now should bring up the ethernet shield with a basic webserver running on port 80, with an IP of 192.168.1.28.

It should print out the current values of the analog lines.

It's totally hacked together to see if I could even get the chip up and runnning, I'll go through and clean up a lot of it over the new couple of days, time willing.

ask if you have any questions.

Hi Perry,
i would even take the development quality code and test it. Just also to see where i got stuck.

hey guys,

I tried briefly to port the Ethernet library from Arduino and gave up because of it's poor quality. I started from scratch and have a basic but functioning webserver.

The code isn't ready to be release yet but if you guys give me the weekend I can share some code on github.

Or if you want some development quality code I can give you guys what I have now.

arg, i wish i had a picture! But the board isnt here right now. Its a standard arduino shield, but the maple header pins on the bottom are super long, allowing for any extra clearance for the second header port on maple. I dont think this was intentional, actually. The ethernet shield came with the long pins when we bought it.

Will post when i have the device in hand.

I have got the same problems converting the Ethernet Lib and have run into a dead end and will pause for a while to get a free head before i continue.

But it really interesting what you have done.

"We've used an ethernet shield (with rises ;) ) that communicated over uart"

How to understand this? Does it mean the ethernet shield is not stacked on the Maple and is a standalone with an Arduino? Be so kind and explain the system you tried.

Ok trying to get the Ethernet Lib working with the maple. Running into issues converting it etc. (minus the time factor which till now i had little of)

Conversion seems a bit harder than I thought with the int's. Can you guys toss a couple of bones out there for us.

Also please a demo one. Use the LCD as an example I can do the rest I think.
