So just to be clear, you unplug the board, plug it back in, and then can't upload, even if you put it into perpetual bootloader mode?

If the board is in perpetual bootloader mode, you don't need a serial port to upload. It will just work, and then the serial port will reappear after the upload finishes and the board resets.

Taylor, "perpetual bootloader mode" means that it stays in bootloader mode, and does not reset into normal "run" mode where the sketch and the serial port would be activated.

confirmed here on OSX Lion and a fresh Maple Board rev5 spring 2012.
At first the board was seen, but after a first upload it disappeared not to return again.
The uploading confirmed a correct upload, but the serial monitor was unable to find the connection.

Hello,

I have been using the maple board for about a month now. When I first open the IDE I am able to find the correct COM port and everything works fine. However, when I go to upload another program, I put it in perpetual bootloader mode upload the program and then go to the serial monitor and it says it can not find the com port. Once this happens I have tried disconnecting the device, restarting it, closing the IDE and starting it back up however it is still unable to find the com port. The only thing that works is restarting my computer which has gotten a little annoying.

I am sure I am doing something wrong here. Is there some fool proof uploading procedure that doesn't cause com port issues?

For reference I am running Windows 7 and I have a rev 5 board and am uploading to flash.

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Taylor
