spas - Thanks for that link. Nice spot.
AFAICT, they aren't part of the 20% sale, but are part of RS's price comparison system, and will likely be that price when the sale ends.

It's also worth noting that the STM32F103RBT7 is cheaper than the STM32F103RBT6, and is not in any sale:
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/microcontrollers/7239022/
The T7 temperature range is slightly better than the T6 too (–40 to 105 °C vs –40 to 85 °C).
(I have sometimes thought about trying to get one to work in boiling (distilled) water, just as a demo :-)

I'd be tempted to try for a STM32F103RC, which has 2x Flash, more than 2x RAM, 2x timers, dual DAC, ... , and is cheaper than the STM32F103RBT6.

However, ala42's $3.75 including P&P is impressive!

Beats Future Electronics who are usually very competitive.

BTW - pyrohaz, which country do you live in?

Maybe I should finish my Dual-In-Line board, like a giant Maple-mini, for the 64pin STM32F?-)

spas - I have had a look at RS, specifically at the microcontrollers which they say are on sale:
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/semiconductors/processors-microcontrollers/microcontrollers/?searchTerm=price-reduction-sept13_uk&searchType=Offers

The only manufacturers with MCU's on sale are Atmel and NXP, but not ST Micro. The sites web-page-ads are a bit confusing

Hi,
If the Micro is stuffed what else has blown? It could be that after you have totted up damage list it may be easier and cheaper to purchase another one. However, RS have a 20% of sale at the moment and the micro is one of those in the sale.

Best of luck

Replacing the main IC should be too hard, if you know the primary IC is burnt out, cut off the legs, you don't need to remove the IC whole, that way you reduce the risk of causing a pad to lift when de-soldering and can just swipe then clean your soldering iron tip from those legs.

The 30mV could be other factors such as capacitors which have shorted out. Which revision of the maple do you have?

To my utter dismay, it seems that i've managed to burn out my processor or so it would seem. I was attempting to run my maple off a 12v lipo at which I connected it to the VIn and GND and the magic IC smoke arose and now it doesn't work at all! After replacing the IC's pin for pin with AMS1117-3.3 (only regs i've got on me), it still doesn't work. Looking at the voltage present at VDDA and VCC shows around 30mV, would replacing the main IC be a hard task? I wouldn't mind buying another maple as a last resort (i've already got 2 Maples and a maple mini!) though i'm not the wealthiest of people!

Cheers,
