I hope you had a good Maker Faire.

I'm wondering what to do for next years UK event in Newcastle
(which is near my birthplace, and the early families castle :-)

I am working (slowly) on a robot (micromouse-style). Is anyone else in the UK interested in doing something?

September 24, 2010

Hello,

I could not attend the OpenHardwareSummit held yesterday, but they recorded the presentations. The talks can be viewed at:

http://ustre.am/oaVr

If you want to know more about each speaker the schedule for the summit is posted here:

http://www.openhardwaresummit.org/schedule/

During one of the sessions a speaker suggested spending 20% of time on documentation. What was not stated is whether this amount of time is recommended for both small and large projects, if more time should be spent at the beginning of projects, or if part of this 20% is the initial time developing and focusing the specifications for the new project.

How much time does the Leaflabs team spend on documentation? Is the recommended time for documenting hardware projects the same as software projects?

I am posting this message under this topic, because MakerFaire and the Openhardwaresummit were scheduled to be close to each other (both the date and location in NYC).

Information about Makerfaire NYC 2010 can be found at:

http://makerfaire.com/newyork/2010/

Hey guys,
The last couple of weeks have been great on this forum! We are so pleased with all the good discussion, bugfinding/fixing/stress testing/projecting/dreaming. Thank you so much! With Maker Faire right around the corner, we are up to our necks in demos and polish and 0.0.7 and getting rev5 made - not to mention spinning the next Maple Native prototype, building a new IDE, and designing the front end for the Oak toolchain. Needless to say, we are hosed!
Usually we try and curate the forums here the best we can to provide a level of support that we can be proud of. If you would permit us, this week only, to slow down a bit on answering your questions that would be extremely helpful! We will still pop in, and try and answer what we can. However, believe when I say keeping up with you guys takes a dedicated daily effort. If I dont get this VGA demo working soon its going to be...suboptimal.

Thanks as always,
