hi,

try pulling from the branch now, i just pushed some large merges and a handful of fixes cherry-picked from another branch I've been working on. I haven't tested it since I don't have my gear with me, please let me know how it goes.

Remember to modify main.cpp to set you essid, security type, and keys (if any).

Hi Crenn,

I am not using the IDE, I have to use the 'make' and 'make install' commands. Perry's repo at GIT:

So I am starting to suspect my Maple must be defective since uploading firmware requires that it is in perpetual bootloader mode.

Anyone have any suggestions before I return the Maple and abandon this hardware?

I got Perry's repo download, compiled and uploaded to the board (requires that I enter perpetual bootloader mode to upload from the command line for some reason; works fine from the IDE though). Running Mac OS X 10.6.4...

After it has been flashed, it blinks the blue light fast about 6 times, then slower about 6 times then the light turns off, and the wifi light never comes on. I tried changing it to Adhoc mode in main.cpp built that doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas?

Just got it working. Thank you Perry!

For others: you need to make sure you check out the wishield-dev branch:

git clone -b wishield-dev git://github.com/iperry/maple-library.git

Then, you can run 'make flash' and 'make install'. That works for me!

By the way - this works for me on an unmodified AsyncLabs WiShield board. The WiShield board has a 3.3v voltage regulator, but it converts 3.3v to 3.3v without significant voltage drop, so the board works fine on Maple R3 with no modifications.

Now I'm going to run some performance tests, to see how fast it is. Also on my list: get DHCP working. I will let you know if I get that going (in another forum thread).

HTTP is my device driver now!

You Leaf Labs folks rock! And Maple rocks!

here's a dev branch i've been using:
http://github.com/iperry/maple-library/tree/wishield-dev

It should bring up the webserver example from the asynclabs guys, see main.cpp for the 'sketch.'

it's a very rough port, but I need the wishield for a project I'm working on and this suffices for now. let me know if you guys have any problems.

starbug,

yes of course. I've been developing on a dev branch on the libmaple repo hosted on github. I'll clean up the patches this weekend and push it to github so others can use it. It's not integrated with the IDE at all and is a very preliminary port, but I needed the functionality for a project I'm working on. It will probably be included in the next release of the ide.

In terms of physical shield compatibility, all of the components on the wishield work at 3v3, but since the Arduino supplies 5v there's an on-shield regulator which provides 3.3v to the ZG2100 and flash chips. Since the maple is 3.3 already, we could in theory just remove the regulator and replace it with a bridge, but instead I bent the 5V male pin on the shield back and jumpered Vin (USB 5V in my case) to +5 on the shield. It seems to work fine.

As I'm sure Adam noticed, there were a few bugs in libmaple that hindered the process. I'll push those fixes as well this weekend.

hey adam,

For what it's worth, I was able to bring up the wishield last night and run the webserver examples. I'm busy tonight, but I'll clean the port up a little bit on saturday and send you a repo url.
