Adding ENV{ID_MM_DEVICE_IGNORE}="1" to maple udev rules works for me:

Just got the Maple IDE working with Mint 14.1 x64. Had the usual problems, but it just didn't work right. Long waits for the ACM port to reappear and having to use perpetual bootloader.

Some other CDC device I have said you have to uninstall modemmanager for it to work. Tried that and BINGO! works as advertised.

I also installed the udev rule without a number prepended as that makes it install last ie "maple.rules" instead of "45-maple.rules", don't know it that really helped or not, but eliminates another potential problem with /lib/udev rules.

It seems that having modemmanager installed as a default package is a fairly recent thing.

The command to uninstall is
sudo apt-get remove modemmanager
.

Hope this helps someone.

Steve
