I answered my own question... the pin numbers are ref. to the GPIOx base not the
standard Arduino/Maple pinout.

Platform: Windows XP SP3
Device: Maple Rev. 3 red
IDE Version: 0.5.0
Date: 7/10/10

On the doc for the Maple pinouts from GITHUB

SPI1 - NSS = 10 pin (select)
SPI1 - MOSI = 11 pin
SPI1 - MISO = 12 pin
SPI1 - SCK = 13 pin

On the Maple rev. 3 schematic matches the above pinouts.

In file "spi.c" the pinouts are different for both SPI ports?
This is the file used by the hardware SPI ???

... Just trying to help.
