This is actually an interesting corner case that should probably get a mention in TFM. We flash a test sketch on each maple at the factory, so most users never encounter a maple without ANY code but the bootloader.

However, when there is no code besides the bootloader, the operation should be the same as perpetual bootloader mode. That is to say, there will be no serial port, but there should be an open DFU port. If you just hit upload from the IDE it should work - even though there is no serial port selected. The message should be:

"Auto-reset failed, no serial port" ...or something
"Maple DFU 0x1EAF:0x0003 FOUND! programming!" ... or something

I dont recall the exact messages off the top of my head.

Does that work for you?

Hi Guys,

I need some help. I am one of those 'idiots' who did not RTFM. I started reading after the error happend. :-)

Just got a new MAPLE r5, playing with programming in the IDE worked perfectly for a while then due to my programming, it bricked, it did not want to communicate via USB anymore.
Starting reading, I had re-flashed the bootloader with the pre-compiled copy version on your website using the FTDI. Now when I go back to the USB interface it does not detect anything on the system (OS 10.6) and I does not upload as it cannot find any serial.

Any Ideeas?
