You might want to check out Embedded Artists 7 inch LCD

http://www.embeddedartists.com/products/displays/lcdb_70.php

I've successfully interfaced their 3.2 inch version to a Maple using SPI, and am currently using their 4.5 LCD with their LPC-1788 Development Kit via RGB. I think with an 800 x 600 7 inch version, only RGB or parallel will be fast enough. they are a Swedish company that build somewhat expensive but very, very good products. Both Digikey and Mouser stock their stuff. Digikey currently do not had the 7 inch LCD in stock, Mouser have 5 (as of last night) for $159 per. I have also ordered directly from the company and they ship UPS air in a couple of days, but you are paying Euros and about $50 in shipping and UPS customs handling fees if you do that.

Hope this helps

hmm. There are some displays with character maps built in, which makes it easy to draw to them without all the extra memory on the native. I bought, but never brought up (ugh) this biggish panel from sparkfun:

I'm interested in building a custom instrument cluster for a off road truck that I'm building and want to use two 7" lcd's side by side to display engine / vehicle data and am having a hard time finding a suitable display. I don't plan on displaying pictures, or any thing like that, maybe draw some a couple of needles for RPM and speed, but would be ok with just large fonts, and would shift their colors as they reached critical levels. If at all possible it would be nice to find a controller that would accept an analog video input so I could do some sort of pass through for cameras mounted on the bumpers and under the truck, but I could use a third display just for that if needed.

I notice that almost nobody uses a display this large at all, but in my application a 3 or 4" just wont cut it. I like the 4D displays, but can't find anything in the 7" range that would be easily put into service. I plan on running a Native board because it seems like it would be powerful enough to draw text on a screen that large with a decent refresh rate.

I'm fairly new to using these microcontrollers, and know that going straight to a large display isn't as easy as the little ones, but...I have a project in mind so any help would be great.

TIA!
