Were glad to see 32 bit adoption starting to take over the 8/16 bit pic/avr space, but we obviously have some strong opinions about how to move forward. mbolivar is putting together an article on this subject for the blog. </p> <p>As for keeping the lower price - we would need some serious volume to sustain that. Fry's and Digikey you say? hmmmm.</p> <p>Certainly we cant let people continue going around saying some two week old pic32 board is the first ever awesome 32bit arduino-style platform. Generally try to avoid this with projects. </p> <p>One time we had this little omniwheel robot with an FPGA on it for a competition. We only had one FPGA board. The day before the competition (after a one month build), some shoddy wiring accidentally shorted the 36V of NiCad batteries together into a nice little flame ball and the robot was definitely on fire. given we only had one FPGA board we thought we were out for sure. But, low and behold, the damn thing survived! And then we won some stuff.
